    Dental Hygiene

Dental hygiene is very important, and at Wichita Family Dentistry, we want to provide the best cleanings and patient education possible. We treat patients of all ages, from children to adults and provide a comfortable, family friendly atmosphere.

Our hygienists provide excellent teeth cleanings that are gentle, thorough, and leave your mouth feeling sparkling clean. We take extra care to ensure that you know proper brushing and flossing techniques for home use, because it is very important to take care of your teeth in between your regularly scheduled dental hygiene visits.

Your oral health also reflects on your overall health, as the plaque that forms on the inside of your mouth needs to be removed constantly to prevent problems such as heart disease.

Our hygienists are very experienced at treating our patients with care and communicate everything you need to know about you oral hygiene and how the state of you mouth affects your overall health.

If you have any questions about your oral hygiene, speak with either Dr. Mark, or any one of our Wichita Family Dentistry team members today.

Dr. Mark and Wichita Family Dentistry know how important it is to have a healthy mouth. We do our best in educating patients about home dental care, to take good care of your teeth when you aren't at our office. However, when you do develop a dental problem, we are here to help with experience and expertise in general dentistry.

Whether you need a filling, a crown, dental bridge or any other restorative dental service, we provide it all.

If your dental problem needs even more special care, we will refer you to one a specialist who we know personally, and who we trust to provide you with the utmost care.

Normally the body's natural defenses and good oral health care, such as daily brushing and flossing, can keep teeth bacteria under control. However, without proper oral hygiene, bacteria can reach levels that might lead to oral infections, such as tooth decay and gum disease.

    Mouthguards or Nightguards

Mouthguards and/or nightguards can protect the teeth from permanent damage. Whether you grind or clinch your teeth at night, or you are looking for an athletic mouthguard, we can help!

At Wichita Family Dentistry, Dr. Mark will determine if you are in need of a mouthguard, after completing an examination of your teeth and mouth. Dr. Mark will also work with you to specify which type and design of mouth guard you might need.

Wearing a mouthguard can help to protect your teeth from chips, fractures and wear as well as preventing jaw pain and headache. Let Dr. Mark know if you feel you may be a candidate for a custom mouthguard.

    Snore Appliance

At Wichita Family Dentistry, we know that snoring can prevent you from getting a good night's sleep. Not only does it disturb your partner's sleep, but it causes you to have less REM sleep during the night. We know that a good night's sleep directly correlates with how you feel the next day. A good night's sleep is vital to having a good and productive day the next day.

If you suffer from snoring, or have a loved one complain about your snoring, talk with Dr. Mark about a snore appliance.

Dr. Mark will examine your teeth and mouth and help determine what snore appliance is best for you. Let us help you get a sound night's sleep, once and for all.

    Did you know that?

Occasional snoring is usually not very serious and is mostly a nuisance for your bed partner. However, if you are a habitual snorer, you not only disrupt the sleep patterns of those close to you, but you also impair your own sleep quality.

    Dental Crowns and Bridges

If you have certain problems such as tooth decay, cracks, broken teeth, discoloration, failing old fillings of other problems that can cause issues with your appearance or the function of your teeth and jaws, Wichita Family Dentistry can help.

After a thorough examination of your teeth and mouth, Dr. Mark will determine if you are a candidate of a dental crown or bridge.

Crowns are covers that fit over your teeth to restore and strengthen a single tooth. Crowns can be made of different materials, including acrylic, metal and porcelain. These white, sparkling, natural looking restorations are durable and last for many years

If you are missing teeth, dental bridges could be an excellent option for you. Bridges are fixed in placed and supported on either side by your adjacent teeth. Bridges look and feel like your natural teeth, they function like teeth, are extremely durable and not removable. This cosmetic treatment option not only will restore your smile, it can also improve speaking, chewing and other problems that develop because of missing teeth.

    Did you know that?

Tooth decay may not cause any pain. However, if you have dental caries you might have: toothache, tooth sensitivity, grey, brown or black spots appearing on your teeth, bad breath, an unpleasant taste in your mouth, missing teeth.

    Partial Dentures

If you have missing teeth, a full or partial denture can help. Dr. Mark, at Wichita Family Dentistry, can help assess your mouth to see if you are candidate for full or partial dentures.

Complete dentures are used if you're missing teeth in your upper or lower jaws. Partial dentures are used on patients who just have some missing teeth on either jaw. A partial denture can be removable or permanent. A permanent partial attaches to a dental crown or a dental implant.

    Partial dentures:

    • Make it easier to speak and chew
    • Maintain the shape of your face
    • Decrease the risk of periodontal disease and resulting gum disease treatment
    • Prevent teeth from shifting in your mouth
    • Ease the stress of your jaw

If you have missing teeth, ask Dr. Mark or a team member at Wichita Family Dentistry if full or partial dentures are right for you.

    Did you know that?

Tooth loss can cause immediate problems with eating, speech, and other basic activities that may worsen with time. Eventually, the remaining teeth in the jaw shift in an attempt to fill in the gap left by a missing tooth.
